At this time, I no longer knew what to say. All I could think of was the words: "It's a blessing, not a curse. It's a curse that cannot be avoided. The third eye will definitely grow!"
And this is our Leizhen, the "difficulty of facing the west" that makes people talk about it.
Yin Ling'er is also a clever person. Seeing everyone staring at me intently, she knew that the abbot was referring to me. She came to me, pinched my face with both hands, and pulled me back and forth several times without paying attention to the strength, "Huh? Where is the third eye? Where is it?"
"Go back!" He Lanxue raised his eyebrows and glanced at her: "You are still a girl who has not left the palace, how can you behave like this all day long? This is the holy land of Buddhism."
The abbot was probably used to the world, so he recited a line from Amitabha Buddha in a low voice: "Young people are full of blood, which is understandable, but next time please remember that there are differences between men and women..."
"That's what the abbot said."
He Lanxue and Lao Jiang nodded repeatedly, but Yin Ling'er and I couldn't help but blush. It wasn't her actions just now, but my heart was beating wildly because of her.
If she is always so frizzy, I'm afraid...
"Li Jinglan, you are so old, don't be ignorant all the time." Lao Jiang suddenly kicked me, as if to remind me something.
That's right, Yin Ling'er can be ignorant, but I can't!
Miao territory is always a gap that cannot be crossed!
Before I could take a deep breath, Lao Jiang gave me another elbow: "I almost forgot about the business because of your confusion."
"It's obviously Yin Ling'er, but you only know how to teach me a lesson, and you don't know who my master is." I deliberately pretended to be dissatisfied and said angrily to Lao Jiang. The atmosphere finally relaxed, and Lao Jiang couldn't stop laughing. Said: "Ximei's apprentice is naturally my apprentice, a poor man who raises a son and a rich daughter, an ignorant guy."
A look full of murderous intent pierced him, and He Lanxue's eyes looked as if he wanted to eat old ginger alive.
Lao Jiang quickly looked at the abbot: "Abbott, you said that the statue should be given to a destined person, does that mean that it does not actually belong to Hantan Temple?"
The abbot clasped his hands together and smiled slightly: "Actually, I believe everyone has a question in their minds now, that is, where is the treasure of our temple hidden? Some people think it is in the Sutra Pavilion, some think it is in the stupa, and some people think it is in my In the house, but actually not..."
Speaking of this, the abbot suddenly paused, as if he was deliberately leading us to guess.
Several of us looked at each other, but we had no idea what to do.
However, the abbot pointedly mentioned the name of 'Hantan Temple': "The Western Hundred and Eighty Temples in the Southern Dynasties. There is a touching story behind the name of each temple, but here it is named after 'Hantan'." After naming it, didn’t the donors think about why?”
He Lanxue is the most Zen-minded among us. She glanced out the window and said, "I heard there is a pool in the back mountain. It is cold and secluded. Although the name Cold Pool is a bit strange, it also has a hint of asceticism."
"Yes, isn't there a Hanshan Temple outside Gusu City?" Lao Jiang helped He Lanxue without thinking.
But I suddenly realized something, stood up suddenly, and couldn't hide my joy and said: "Could it be that the treasure of the temple is hidden in the pool behind the temple!"
Lao Jiang also suddenly realized, his eyes were shining, as if the clay statue was already in his pocket: "Hantan Temple, Hantan Temple, it turns out to be like this, first there is Hantan and then there is a temple. This is the origin of the name of the temple. ”
"good."
The old abbot nodded and praised me without hesitation: "Little donor, you are very enlightened and worthy of being a destined person! It is said that the founder traveled to the West Sea in the past to find the existence of Bodhisattva. He walked through Xuedou Mountain and went to Jiuhua Mountain finally stopped at the Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang. I was attracted by the exquisite Buddha statues there, so I simply stayed there and became a disciple of the old monk who guarded the caves. "
However, this stay lasted for ten full years.
After he finished his studies, he did not visit famous mountains again, but suddenly returned to Shanghai.
He was alone at that time and took nothing with him from Dunhuang except the clay statue.
After traveling thousands of miles, he carried a small clay statue home on his back and was still sitting at the entrance of the Jinchan Temple, the most famous Buddhist temple in Shanghai. Others saw that he was wearing tattered cassocks and thought he wanted to enter the temple to beg for food. Unexpectedly, he was so brazen that he dared to correct the words and deeds of the abbot of Jinchan Temple, thinking that the other party's sermon was wrong, and it was a big mistake!
Jinchan Temple felt that he was deliberately provoking. A senior monk condescended to teach him a lesson and offered to argue with him, but he lost.
Several other eminent monks came in groups, but the result was still the same.
Not even the abbot of Jinchan Temple can do it!
Later, famous masters from various temples heard the news and came, but no one could win the argument about the patriarch.
Although he was only a young man at the time, his practice in Buddhism was already profound. After his fame, the people voluntarily followed him, and even the abbot of Jinchan Temple was willing to make a nest for him.
But the Patriarch just tapped his finger, pointed to the west and said: "I only want that piece of land!"
So the villagers built a small temple for him on the other side of the Huangpu River. There was a cold pond there, and the temple was built next to the cold pond. Originally, many monks often went to the Cold Pond to practice asceticism when they were confused. But over time, fewer and fewer people went to the Cold Pond, and more and more weeds grew. First, the backyard was abandoned, and later even the road leading to the Cold Pond was abandoned. The path is also closed.
"But the incense in Hantan Temple is getting stronger and stronger..." He Lanxue frowned helplessly.
I also feel that the abbot’s words have a deeper meaning, or that this Hantan Temple and this world are ridiculous.
The abbot raised his right hand, recited Amitabha, and then told us frankly: "The founder hid the statue in the Hantan. There is the most important thing in the temple, so it was named: Hantan Temple."
The abbot looked at the bright moon hanging in the night sky and said slowly: "The ancestor has been looking for the Bodhisattva all his life, and finally realized that he himself is the incarnation of the Bodhisattva. This is because there is nothing in the first place, so how can it cause dust. "
He Lanxue listened thoughtfully to these words, but Lao Jiang eagerly asked the abbot, when can he take us to get the clay statue?
"Don't be in a hurry. You are here by chance. Tomorrow is the Buddha's Day. After eating this fast in the evening, it will be time for the things to return to their original owners..."
The abbot bowed slightly: "Tomorrow, I'll be waiting for you by the cold pool!"
Then I called the young monk to see off the guests.
On the way, Yin Ling'er said carelessly: "Since you want to give us things, why go to Hantan? Aren't the roads there long ago deserted?"
"Also, I find it quite strange. This abbot seems to have a lot of work, so why did he let Hantan lie abandoned and not take care of it?"
Regarding Yin Ling'er's doubts, I just casually echoed: "Who says it's not the case."
But from the bottom of my heart, I sincerely admired the patriarch and the abbot. This is what is called great wisdom but foolishness.
As soon as I woke up, it was Buddha Day. Originally, I wanted to ask Lao Jiang to join in the fun, but Lao Jiang lay on the bed unable to get up, saying that he was tired from dealing with those thieves last night.
Hearing these words was a rejection. He was a black sword Qilin. Does this trivial matter matter?
But as soon as Lao Jiang said I was tired, I started to feel sleepy. I fell asleep and woke up in the evening.
It's night, and it's more exposed.
We walked all the way through the backyard path, which has long been overgrown with grass. Not only did the fence collapse, but there were also many spider webs, as if the deep cold pool had long been forgotten by the world.
Although we arrived earlier than the agreed time, when we showed up, we saw a figure already appearing on the edge of the emerald green pool.
The abbot was sitting cross-legged by the pool, meditating under the moonlight. The cassocks on his body were covered with a thin layer of frost. It seemed that he had been here for a long time.
Lao Jiang also went up to greet me: "Why did you come so early if we didn't say we were ready? You may have caught the cold."
It’s not that cold in Shanghai these days, but the closer we get to Hantan, the more we feel a heart-breaking coldness piercing our bones.
The source of that cold air is the bottomless pool!
The pool is not small, as big as two courtyards. The bright moon is in the sky today, and the ground and feet are white when reflected. But when it shines in the cold pool, it seems to have been crushed and eaten, and it is so gloomy that no light can shine through.
What's even more strange is that there is a stone statue of a young monk standing in the center of the cold pool, wearing a moon-white cassock. Every line is carved lifelike, but the most important face is blank.
What surprised me was that he also had a vertical line on his forehead, which was almost exactly the same as the three-eyed Li Jinglan's forehead in the dream!
Under his feet were nine bronze chains as thick as the mouth of a bowl. The other end of the bronze chain was plunged into the water so deep that it could not be seen to the bottom, as if it was restraining the monsters in the pool...
"It's strange. This stone statue should be based on the scene where your ancestor achieved enlightenment on the cold pool, but why does it have no face?" Lao Jiang looked at the abbot in confusion.
"Yes, yes, what are those chains under his feet used for?" Yin Ling'er asked.
The abbot raised his hand and told: "It is said that there was a poisonous dragon living in this cold pool back then. Every year on March 3rd, a poisonous rain would fall on the Huangpu River, making the nearby people miserable. After the ancestor arrived at this cold pool, he sat here Chanting sutras and reciting Buddha's teachings over time actually influenced the dragon, and it never came out of the water to do evil again."
"In order to commemorate the ancestor, the disciples built a statue in the center of the cold pool! As for why there is no face, has the donor ever heard this sentence: There is no self or all living beings? Buddhism says that everything is false, then he It’s you, it doesn’t matter if you are him.”
Although the old monk said this, he looked at my face with a strange smile the whole time.
It's like the so-called ancestor's face is very similar to mine!
I looked at the faceless statue of the Patriarch again with some deep thought and fear. Is his ungrown third eye really related to me?
Or is he actually from Lei Town? !
